The Suzuki Institute offers participants
both Core (required) classes and Enrichment (elective)
classes. Enrichment classes are a great opportunity
for traditionally trained musicians, siblings, and
even parents to participate in Institute! In addition,
half day students can add extra classes to their
day. Cost is $40 per class, per person.
For our enrolled participants, enrichment
selections are as follows:
1/2 day students (piano or strings) have
a choice of ONE enrichment class.
Enrichment classes they can choose from are: Music
Mind Games, Arts and Crafts, or Dance.
Full day strings students will have a choice
of TWO enrichment classes.
Enrichment classes they can choose from are: Chamber
(see details below), Mariachi (students beyond Etude),
Dance, Arts and Crafts, Bucket Drumming, Chess,
and Music Theater/Choir. Music Mind games is available
for Book 1 string students under age 7.
(Chamber is for intermediate reading level and up,
and students must bring their own music stand. Chamber
music will be sent out ahead of time.)
Full day piano students will have a choice
of TWO enrichment classes.

Ensemble/Duets, Dance, Music Theater/Choir, Arts
and Crafts, Drumming, and/or Chess. (Instrument
Ensemble/Duets music will be sent out ahead of time.)

Music Mind Games:
Music Mind Games is a hands-on class where students
play games to reinforce basic sight reading
concepts. Using a variety of materials, we explore
how to recognize and name notes, figure out
different rhythms, and identify musical symbols.
We run, jump, toss, tap, shout, whisper, and
play! *Recommended for students ages 7 and under.

Arts & Crafts:
Let your creative genius come out! Create fun
art projects the whole week.
*All ages welcome. |

Dance: This class
is explosive! Dances that combines memory, coordination,
rhythm games, and loads of energetic FUN! By
combining fast paced rhythms and movement exercises,
your child will get an AWESOME workout without
realizing they are breaking a sweat! This class
if for anyone who can move! Be sure to bring
flat, closed-toe shoes for this class. Open
to all ages. |

Choir/Musical Theater:
Come experience a little bit of Broadway! Use
voice as your instrument in this class complete
with a little dancing and a little drama. A
great class for all ages. |

Chess Class:
This class was a surprising hit last year. Learn
the game, the strategy, and play against fellow
students. Great for all ages and experience
levels! BEGINNERS WELCOME! * Recommended for
students ages 7 and over. |

Drumming: This
"Bucket Brigade" is an exciting new
way to play with rhythm. Using 5 gallon buckets,
and special drum sticks, students of all ages
will enjoy the experience of playing the buckets.
The session will begin with basic rhythms and
sticking and conclude with a completely choreographed
composition. Performers will be a part of the
creative process and "won't want to put
their buckets away." Come join in the fun!

Mariachi: Mariachi
is a form of orchestra for students who already
love the music or seek exposure to something
new. It is an exciting way to play a new genre
of music with exceptional instructors. Traditional
Students are welcome to join in! Click

*Students must be at Etude level or beyond to
participate. |
Orchestra: (full day string
students will be automatically enrolled in this
class)
This class provides an opportunity to sight
read and follow a conductor. You will be placed
in the orchestra most suited to your reading
level. Traditional string students can participate
as well.
*Recommended that student be past the middle
of Suzuki Book 1 or equivalent. |
Advanced Chamber Orchestra:
(for advanced string and piano students). This
program offers the opportunity for students
to participate in ensemble and advanced chamber
orchestra. These classes are limited to string
students at the following levels:
Suzuki Book 4+ or equivalent for violin, Book
3+ for Cello or Viola, all must be proficient
in reading skills and have previous orchestral
experience. Suzuki Book 6+ for piano. For Chamber
groups, students will be divided into ensembles
according to their level.
Traditional music students who meet the playing
requirements will feel very comfortable participating
in this Workshop. Encourage friends to participate
in this tremendous opportunity for traditional
and Suzuki students alike! Parts will be selected
and assigned based on the experience level listed
on the Registration form. Music will be sent
to the student early so notes can be learned
before rehearsals begin. Classes will be held
Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The Advanced Chamber Orchestra and Ensembles
will perform Thursday, June 25 at 5:15 p.m.
Participants will need to wear concert black.
