Enrichment Classes


String students may select two Enrichment Classes.

Piano and Flute students may select three Enrichment Classes.

Ages are given as a guideline. Select Enrichment Classes that meet the student’s interest and ability. Indicate your choices on the Registration form. Due to scheduling complexities, we cannot guarantee your first requests will be filled. Please indicate alternate choices on the Registration Form.

Parents or siblings of enrolled students may take Enrichment Classes for $30 per class, per person, plus any material fee (Science Material fee $10, Arts & Crafts fee $8). Classes not meeting minimum enrollment may be canceled and the fees refunded.

Recommended for students up to 10 years of age

  • Music & Movement—A wealth of fun musical experiences for your child: songs, chants, rhythm games and movement opportunities along with the use of props such as rhythm instruments, scarves, bells, balls, drums, etc., to help encourage your child to join in the fun without any pressure to “perform”.  This class is based on the recognition that all children are musical.
  • Music Mind Games—
  • Beginning Choir—An instrument everyone can play—the voice. Learn how to use your voice in this fun ensemble experience
  • Beginning Folk Dance—Travel around the world as you learn the dances of other cultures. Enjoy using physical skills, rhythm and coordination. Be sure to bring flat, closed toe shoes for this class.
  • Arts & Crafts—Let your creative genius come out! There is an additional $8.00 materials fee per student for this class.
  • Beginning FiddlingPut a little “country” in your life. Violin students on or above “Etude” through Book 2 can take this class.
  • Tin Whistles—There is an additional charge for the whistles payable at the first class.
  • Science—"Come have fun with science and engineering.  In this session, we will build stomp rockets, paper planes and helicopters, musical instruments and down-hill racers.  Learn about the physics involved with each of these and experiment with new designs to see what works best." $10 fee

Recommended for students 11 years or older

  • Theory and Composition—Learn about scales and chords to make melodies and harmonies. Learn how easy composing can be. Learn about form and secondary harmonies. Bring your composition to class and fine-tune your work of art. Go beyond traditional harmonies. Learn about form and explore deceptive cadences, augmented sixth chords, secondary dominants, etc.
  • Music Theatre—Students will be doing a "Musical Revue" with singing and choreography!
  • Advanced Folk Dance—Want more of a challenge? This is the class for you!
  • Advanced Fiddling—Ready for different styles and new challenges?
  • Viola or Cello (choose one)—Ever wonder if you’d like playing a different instrument? Here’s your chance to find out. Learn correct technique with simple melodies.
  • Jazz Piano & Improvisation for Pianists—Learn fundamentals of Jazz music harmonies and rhythm. 
  • Advanced Chamber Orchestra and Ensemble—This workshop offers the opportunity for students to participate in ensemble and advanced chamber orchestra.
  • Science—"Come have fun with science and engineering.  In this session, we will build stomp rockets, paper planes and helicopters, musical instruments and down-hill racers.  Learn about the physics involved with each of these and experiment with new designs to see what works best." $10 fee
  • Piano Accompanist Class—The Art of the Accompanist. Learn how to accompany instrumentalists and more. Please prepare Violin Book One Piano Accompaniment. Accompanying is Great Fun. It is a duet between the accompanist and the soloist, Choir, Group Class and more.
