Class Descriptions
MASTER CLASS. An individual lesson with a master
teacher where a student presents their polished
piece. After their lesson, they will observe the
other student lessons. Parents attend this class,
taking notes on their child’s lesson so that
the assignment for each day will be understood and
they can help their child prepare for the next day’s
class.
THEORY/READING. Students become more familiar
with the written language of music.
TECHNIQUE/REPERTOIRE. Students will bring back
old songs we worked so hard to perfect in lessons
past. We will prepare them for performance. Pieces
must be performance polished.
CHOICE OF TWO (2) PIANO ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Students choose one of the following: Instrumental
Ensemble,/Duets, Dance, Music Theater/Choir, Arts
& Crafts, Drumming, and/or Chess. Full descriptions
of the classes can be found on our Enrichment page,
except for Instrumental Ensemble, just for pianos,
is described below.
INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE (DUO, TRIO,
QUARTET). In this class, elementary and intermediate
piano students will learn the basics of playing
in small groups with other instrumentalists. Piano
students play a selected piece from the Suzuki Piano
Repertoire Volumes 2 - 5. The added parts, composed
by Joseph McSpadden, are for treble and bass instruments,
or for two treble instruments. Added parts may include
doubling. Ensemble/Duet music will be sent out ahead
of time. Requirements for participation: students
must be at an elementary or intermediate level of
playing. Click to see a sample
