Training
Suzuki
teachers are committed to Dr. Suzuki’s belief that every child
can learn.
Teacher trainers believe in the potential of adults—that teachers
can develop and improve their teaching skills.
The Suzuki teacher’s training and learning is never complete.

College Credit
College credit is available through Northwest Nazarene University.
Two credits for $120 will be earned upon completion
of any Suzuki Unit.
Teachers may register as participants
or auditors. To qualify as a participant in training
courses rather than auditor, applicants must submit
a videotape audition of specified repertoire to the
SAA, preferably prior to enrollment. Tapes should be
submitted at least 8 weeks prior to
the course start date, with the required fees and a
completed application form. If submitted later than
8 weeks before the course start date, audition results
determining participant eligibility may not be available
prior to the course, and will require late audition
fees. For courses occurring during summer 2010,
applicants submitting tapes later than May 15, 2010
may not receive audition results prior to the course,
even if meeting the above deadlines. An applicant
may enroll late as “tape pending”, but will incur late
audition fees, and audition results determining eligibility
for participant credit will probably not be available
until after the course. If auditions from “tape pending”
applicants are not accepted, their course work will
not be eligible retroactively for SAA credit registration
as a participant, only as an auditor—even if course
work was completed. For further information, please
see the SAA Website
in the teacher section under training, the downloadable
video audition application form (with instructions);
or call the SAA toll free (888) 378-9854 for this form.
SAA strongly urges teachers to enroll as full participants
in training courses and to complete the registration process.
Since courses are often taken in different locations, the
SAA offers centralized record keeping services. Trainees who
register can request verification of completed courses by
contacting only one source. Auditors are not required to submit
a tape, will not perform, may not ask extensive questions
and will not receive SAA registration or credit. Fees are
the same for both auditors and participants. Participants
who wish to register with SAA must take the units in consecutive
order. 100% attendance is required.
Required
Course Preparation
All Teacher Workshop applicants are expected
to prepare the book to be studied to a point of fluent
performance. Memory is not required, but is strongly
recommended. A minimum of 20 hours of listening to the
Suzuki recording of the unit to be studied is required.
All applicants should have studied Nurtured by Love
by Dr. Suzuki.
*Teacher Training classes are subject
to cancellation if the class does not receive minimum
enrollment of three teacher trainees. Should cancellation
be necessary, you will be notified by 5/1/2010 and a
full refund will be issued. ISA can not be responsible
for any other expenses (i.e. travel) associated with
cancellation.
